Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon recently discussed the creation of a music video for his song, "Canal Street."
Rae also talked about his ability to portray vivid images with his lyrics.
"I write rhymes that paint clear pictures," he said in an interview. "You can almost close your eyes and see every scene, character and location. I feel like every song off the album deserves it's own visual. The video for 'Canal Street' is another installment." (XXL Mag)
The video's director LaMarck also discussed working with Rae on the visual.
"Coming up, Raekwon was my favorite artist, so doing the video with him was a career highlight," the director said. "He's a visionary who know what he wants. CL2 was so cinematic. His style of MCing has always been so vivid and clear. That makes creating a visual counterpart easy. Most importantly, Rae knows what he's looking for. He comes in with a direction, but is also open to the collaboration of ideas." (XXL Mag)
The rapper's latest solo project debuted on the sales charts last September.
Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon has returned to store shelves with his long-delayed Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Part 2 landing at No. 4. The Chef's new album has sold a total of 67,900 records after one week on store shelves. (SOHH Sales Wrap)
His music has also caught the attention of artists like renowned singer Sade.
"I love Alicia Keys," Sade said in an interview earlier this year. "I like some of the tracks off Rihanna's new album. I like some more heavy rappers like Raekwon's album from the Wu-Tang Clan. I listen to just about anything that speaks to me." ("Tom Joyner Morning Show")
