Young Money's Nicki Minaj has said she would like Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West to contribute to her upcoming debut album.
The rapper said she has already locked in spots for Swizz Beatz and Sean Garrett.
"I'm probably definitely going to work with Kanye," she revealed in an interview. "On my debut, I worked with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he's gonna send me something. I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I accept beats from everybody." (Rap-Up)
Minaj recently spoke on receiving critical acclaim from fellow Kanye West associate, Jay-Z.
"I was like, 'What?' " Minaj said about Jigga claiming she has "charm." "Obviously, Jay-Z ... Jay-Z is a person in hip-hop that you almost don't think he exist until you meet him. It's almost like he's bigger than a person. He's a mythical figure. That's a great way to describe it. I was like, 'Jay-Z knows me?' I didn't think he knew who I was, let alone recommend me for something. If he did know who I was, I didn't know if he liked my style or approved. It was weird. It was like getting that stamp of approval from the most popular jock in high school and being a freshman in high school and thinking no one knows you exist." (MTV)
She was also co-signed by West Coast rapper Game last December.
"Nicki Minaj made the R.E.D. album. gone be CLASSIC," Game wrote Monday (December 14) night. "RT @THEREALCAWB: @ihategame stop f*cking ignoring my tweets if you keep niki on the album im not buying and i bought all your albums you ... @THEREALCAWB well don't buy it then f*ggot !!! no dis-respect to y'all gay folks but this n*gga might be mo h*mo than y'all." Last December, Minaj said she wanted to drop a "classic" debut album.
"The [album], that's what I'm actually getting ready to work on because I've been on the road for such a long time, I'm taking a complete hiatus for the next couple months, unfortunately, for all the promoters giving crazy offers," Minaj told DJ Whoo Kid. "And I've been turning every one because I have to put my foot down for the next few months and deliver a classic album and I already have stuff and I can't wait for the world to hear. All the stuff we talk about is fun and games and all that but the music is what's most important and I don't want all the people to be distracted by the other stuff and so I'm gonna take a break and when I come back you guys will have some very, very great music."
