Rapper/Actor 50 Cent's Dead Man Running action thriller is reportedly going to be released in the United States later this year.
Although it went into production nearly two years ago, the US release comes after film company Phase 4 purchased the movie's right.
Phase 4 Films is picking up the pace. The new distribution company, which last year released "50 Dead Men Walking," has acquired North American rights to the action thriller "Dead Man Running," starring rapper-actor Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. The company plans to release the film this year. The deal was negotiated by Meyerowitz and Larry Greenberg of Phase 4 with Simon Barnes of London-based Park Entertainment and producer Alan Latham. Park retains the international sales rights. (The Hollywood Reporter)
The project was initially made for a United Kingdom audience.
50's character demands an ex-convict, who is trying to live a straight life, one full day to deliver $150,000 to pay him off. The targeted man moves throughout East London's dog tracks and Manchester's underground drug world in order to come up with the cash before it's too late. Directed and written by Alex de Rakoff, the flick will also star Brenda Blethyn, Tamer Hassan, Danny Dyer and Monet Mazur. (Billboard)
According to reports, the rapper is currently shedding weight for a new film project.
50 Cent is making moves to further his career in the film industry. The rapper is making a serious transition into acting, and has committed to removing some of his tattoos for an upcoming role in the film Things Fall Apart, which he co-wrote and produced. In addition Fif will lose 50 pounds for the on-screen feature. (Hip Hop Honey)
An inside source also confirmed the reports and explained 50's motivation behind the decisions.
A source said, "He's on tour in Europe and has already started losing the weight and is excited to begin production in May. He's also having tattoos removed from his right arm, which will save him time in the makeup chair." He still bears two tattoos on his back -- "50 Cent" and "Southside." (New York Post)
No further details have been revealed as of now.
