Producer Salaam Remi has revealed that Nas and renowned singer Sade worked together nearly a decade ago on a collaboration track for her Lovers Rock album.
According to Remi, the record was going to be a remix single.
"If you have a Nas and Sade record, everybody wants to hear it," Salaam said in an interview. "It's Sade's 'Lovers Rock' remix has Nas on it and that was going to be a single but they decided not to put it out. They put out the live album because the tour was where they were. It was done, that was 2001. And that was right when I was doing my first production with him, when I did 'What Goes Around' for Stillmatic, during those same sessions, we did it. It was done, mixed. They have it, maybe they'll throw it on the B-Side for the next single or something. Maybe." (Soul Culture)
Sade's presence has been respected throughout hip-hop with public recognition from artists like Raekwon and Busta Rhymes.
"Sade is unbelievably incredible...," Busta wrote on his Twitter page last week referring to the singer's talents. "Soldier of Love in-stores Feb.9th...Watch what happens..." (Busta Rhymes' Twitter)
Kanye West also welcomed her return to the music game and praised her first single, "Soldier of Love."
"THIS IS WHY I STILL HAVE A BLOG...," Kanye wrote December 10. "TO BE A PART OF MOMENTS LIKE THIS... NEW SADE... HOW MUCH BETTER THIS THAN THAN EVERYTHING ELSE?" (Kanye West's Blog)
After nearly a decade, Sade will make her return to retail stores next week.
Sade is making music again. The soulful English group fronted by 50-year-old singer Sade Adu will release a new album Feb. 9, according to Epic Records. "Soldier of Love" will be the group's first studio album since 2000's "Lovers Rock." All five of Sade's studio albums have landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200, selling more than 50 million copies worldwide. (Associated Press)
