R&B singer Lloyd has shared his thoughts toward Lil Wayne preparing for his speculated one-year jail sentence and offered the Young Money leader some advice.
From Lloyd's perspective, now is the time to spend his remaining weeks with family and friends.
"I can only imagine because I can't walk in somebody else's shoes and I don't know what's going through his mind but I imagine this is a good time to be around friends and family, people who you love and care about," Lloyd said in an interview. "I see him in the studio all day, just recording his a** off, probably have a thousand songs ready while in there. I'd release a new record everyday with a video. [laughs] Yeah, I talked to Tyga today, he said Wayne's been going real hard in the studio -- I imagine just keep yourself ready and prepared. This is a different time in his life, it's not so much about wilding out, it's about being the best really, being the best..." (Vlad TV)
After Wayne's sentencing was delayed last week due to upcoming dental surgery, his attorney Stacey Richman spoke on his situation.
Earlier this week we speculated that the dental surgery keeping Lil Wayne from jail for another few weeks was the removal of his famous diamond grills. We just got off the phone with Wayne's lawyer, Stacey Richman, however, and while she doesn't know what exactly the procedure is ("I'm not a dentist. I went to law school"), she assures us the grills aren't going anywhere. Also, apparently the reason things didn't get done before the scheduled sentencing on Tuesday is that Wayne's dentist recently had to go on a last-minute charity mission to Nicaragua. When asked if she expects any other postponements in the case, Richman replied, "Barring some sort of tsunami, no, but it's happened in New Orleans before, so who knows." Young Money's Drake recently shared his views on Wayne heading to jail.
"I think you'll miss everything about Wayne," Drake suggested in an interview. "I don't think there will be anybody like Lil Wayne ever again in hip-hop. He paralyzes a room when he walks into it, his wordplay, the excitement that he brings to his music. I think that for eight months a lot of us will have to work a lot harder to keep hip-hop as exciting as it's been for the last two years. He's a strong-willed guy. I can imagine it would take a toll on anybody. I just hope that he comes out for the better." (Rolling Stone)
Last December, Lloyd denied reports of being signed to Wayne's record label.
"A lot of people think I'm already signed over there, but the truth is that I'm still a free agent and I haven't signed with Young Money/Cash Money," he said in an interview. "I don't want to get into specifics, but I have been talking to them and to some other labels. It's an important decision and we're not gonna rush it. We're both working, but not on anything specifically together. He has The Rebirth and The Carter 4, and I'm working on my new album and a couple mixtapes. There were rumors about us doing a project together a few years back, but that was just wishful thinking by the fans." (New Lil Wayne)
