Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne's Rebirth will reportedly chart next week with one-day estimates showing the rapper's experimental rock album selling up to 150,000 copies.
According to estimates, Wayne's new album should lead the pack of new releases next week.
Cash Money/Universal Motown's Lil Wayne long-awaited rock album, Rebirth, hit yesterday, and looks on track for between 140-150k in first-week sales as he prepares to be imprisoned for a year on gun possession charges. Needless to say, his last album, 2008's Tha Carter III debuted with one million sales in its first week. He appears on the cover of the current issue of Rolling Stone. (Hits Daily Double)
Producers Cool & Dre recently shared their overall impression toward the rapper's rock album.
"There are so many artists who create music outside of R&B and Hip-Hop that we believe Rebirth will help open avenues and create a lane for these type of artists," Dre said. "I remember a time where Prince and The Revolution ruled the charts. I'd love to see music become diverse again. Wayne is more than just a hip-hop artist, he's quickly becoming the face of a generation. We're proud to have been given this tremendous opportunity." (All Hip Hop)
