Former hip-hop couple Jermaine "JD" Dupri and Janet Jackson have reportedly gotten back together to put in studio time for the singer's forthcoming album.

According to producer Bryan-Michael Cox, JD is working on Janet's next solo effort.

Producer-songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox revealed that he and J.D. are reteaming with the pop star for her next album, the first since 2008'sDiscipline. "I'm producing Janet's album with Jermaine and it's going to be hot," B. Cox told at Tricky Stewart's pre-Grammy party last Friday. "That's all I can say so far." His producing partner Kendrick "WyldCard" Dean also chimed in, adding, "Some great collabos on there," but didn't disclose further details. (Rap-Up)

The unexpected break-up made headlines shortly after Michael Jackson's memorial last summer.

On July 7, Michael Jackson's family gathered to celebrate him at his much-watched memorial service. Noticeably absent? Janet Jackson's longtime music-exec boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. (A pal says Dupri skipped the memorial because he "doesn't attend funerals.") And for good reason. "His friends are telling people it's over," a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands now. Echoes another: "They have been moving in different directions for a while." (Us Magazine)

Insiders close to both parties initially pointed out the difficulty of JD having a hand in both Jackson's personal life and music career.

"You shouldn't mix business with pleasure," a friend of the former couple explained in an interview. "Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate." (MSBNC)

Last year, Jackson said she still maintained a friendship relationship with Durpi.

During a radio interview with Atlanta's "Bert Show," Jackson reveals that she has a very short list of ex-boyfriends with whom she still communicates. "I'm not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that," the singer, 43, said. However, Jackson said that Dupri, 37, is an exception. "Jermaine is one of my best friends," she said. "I love him to death. We're still connected. We're still good friends. We still talk." (New York Daily News)
