Rap mogul Jay-Z has reportedly given Young Money's Nicki Minaj his official co-sign and the motivation to take her emcee skills to the next level.

Reflecting on how Hov suggested she appear on Robin Thicke's "Shakin' It For Daddy" collaboration, Nicki revealed being shocked at the rapper's admiration for her.

"I was like, 'What?' " Minaj said about Jigga claiming she has "charm." "Obviously, Jay-Z ... Jay-Z is a person in hip-hop that you almost don't think he exist until you meet him. It's almost like he's bigger than a person. He's a mythical figure. That's a great way to describe it. I was like, 'Jay-Z knows me?' I didn't think he knew who I was, let alone recommend me for something. If he did know who I was, I didn't know if he liked my style or approved. It was weird. It was like getting that stamp of approval from the most popular jock in high school and being a freshman in high school and thinking no one knows you exist." (MTV)

Hov nemesis Game recently co-signed Minaj's talent and added her to his upcoming R.E.D. Album.

"Nicki Minaj made the R.E.D. album. gone be CLASSIC," Game wrote Monday (December 14) night. "RT @THEREALCAWB: @ihategame stop f*cking ignoring my tweets if you keep niki on the album im not buying and i bought all your albums you ... @THEREALCAWB well don't buy it then f*ggot !!! no dis-respect to y'all gay folks but this n*gga might be mo h*mo than y'all." Ruff Ryders' Drag-On previously hit up SOHH to discuss the comparisons between Nicki and his long-time partner in rhymes, Eve.

"Yeah of course, Eve is always gonna be in it to win it, she's working on her album right now too," Drag told SOHH. "I heard it's bananas too. Like, it's crazy. She's always in it to win it. But I like Nicki Minaj, I ain't gonna front. I like her swag and what she's got going on." (SOHH)

The female rapper has also stirred reactions amongst the women in hip-hop.

"Nicki Minaj is a talented rapper," Lil Mama said in an interview. "She's out there, she's doing her. What she represents, I don't represent and she's doing something different, that's her lane. As the voice of the young people, Lil Mama, I focus on bringing up young girls to respect their bodies, respect theyself, do it up." (BET)
