Young Money's Drake recently spoke on his love for his hometown and explained how he hopes to introduce Toronto to the world.
According to Drizzy, he puts his all into music for the Toronto fans.
"Toronto is the biggest inspiration behind my music," he said in an interview. "I do everything I do for Toronto. It's a city I really believe in. It's got a bunch of great people. We got a lot of undiscovered things in Toronto, man: women, nightlife, restaurants, clubs and talent. Women, first. I just wanna bring the city to the forefront. I feel like every place needs an ambassador. They need somebody to show the rest of the world how magical that place can be. I think Jay[-Z] does it for New York, a lot of people do it for Atlanta, Kanye did it for Chicago. A lot of rappers take it upon themselves. So I just really wanna be that guy for Toronto." Although known for making hit rap records, Drake recently spoke on his R&B skills.
"With R&B, I know my sound. I know I make records to f*ck to," he explained in an interview. "The way Jay and Wayne write rap, I write R&B. I don't write lyrics down on paper. The other day, I was in the studio with Alicia Keys, and I wrote two songs just speaking to her. I wish I could write that way for rap. With my rap songs, there's so much of me I have to give that I don't know if I could ever just flow. The thing is, I'm a great rapper. There's two elements to rap: having the thoughts, and then being a great rapper. I can really rap the sh*t that I write. My tone, my inflection. When I listen to myself on records, I don't feel like I don't belong there. When I listen to 'Forever,' with three of my heroes, I fit right in." (Complex)
He has also decided to head to Hawaii to work on his album with Kanye West.
"Me and Kanye, when we do come together, it's great," he said in an interview. "We have great chemistry. That definitely won't halt us from giving people what they deserve. In a couple of weeks I'm going to Hawaii so I can work with him and No I.D. some more...It's not much to say -- we got some great songs. Kanye just brought extra brushes to the painting session. He just brought some more colors so we can complete this masterpiece. I know he's eager to complete his record too, so he's back in that music mode which is great. He was in clothing mode for a second...now I think he's back and ready to make this all happen." (MTV)
Last May, the rapper expressed the importance of having his music gain the attention of rappers and fans alike during a sold-out New York City concert.
"It's beyond a little crazy but the key is to keep my composure and just know that at the end of the day these are all human beings and they are all here for a positive reason just to see a good show and it's on me to give it to them. And if I don't, then I'm the worst artist of all time." (Peter Rosenberg's YouTube)
