Cash Money Records co-founder Baby recently spoke on the multitude of music videos that Lil Wayne has completed in anticipation of his jail sentence.
According to the Birdman, Wayne and company reportedly have close to 30 music videos in the books.
"He's shooting 'Da Da Da,' 'Ghetto Life' and two Carter IV videos," Baby revealed to radio personality Tim Westwood. "We shooting two Father Son videos -- Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Mack Maine, everybody. We shooting like 20, 30 videos just to have in the can for while he's gone...[When Wayne goes,] it's a sad day for hip-hop, period. But we won't lose anything, you know, it's personal as far as us, to a fan, it's just something else. But it's a family situation for us but we're ready for it, built for it and we just gonna rock and roll until my son gets home...This is what we do, music is our hustle and I think we got the most solid click in the business, with Young Money, Cash Money and the energy that Wayne bring, everybody knows he's the super star, the mega star of the universe. It's nothing without junior." (Tim Westwood TV)
Director David Rousseau recently spoke on shooting a handful of videos for Wayne prior to yesterday's delayed sentencing.
"We shot some sh-- from the [We Are Young Money compilation] album, we shot something from [Wayne's forthcoming] Tha Carter IV. Some stuff from [Wayne's recent LP] Rebirth," the director said in an interview. "We knew what our deadline was. We're trying to get maximum coverage for Wayne. Most of the time we only shot Wayne's verses -- we'll finish the rest of the videos off in the next couple of weeks." (MTV)
Young Money's Drake recently shared his views on Wayne heading to jail.
"I think you'll miss everything about Wayne," Drake suggested in an interview. "I don't think there will be anybody like Lil Wayne ever again in hip-hop. He paralyzes a room when he walks into it, his wordplay, the excitement that he brings to his music. I think that for eight months a lot of us will have to work a lot harder to keep hip-hop as exciting as it's been for the last two years. He's a strong-willed guy. I can imagine it would take a toll on anybody. I just hope that he comes out for the better." (Rolling Stone)
Baby recently denied rumors of Wayne not writing his own lyrics.
"C'mon, man," Baby said when asked if Drake writes for the rapper. "Wayne don't even write, man. Honestly Wayne don't write. I don't know how he do that sh*t he do, but don't no n*gga do it for him. Wayne don't play that sh*t, he never did. We ain't with that sh*t. That's cheatin' to me, when you're trying to be great. When you're just an artist that wants a hot record, that's something different, but when you're trying to be great you ain't bout to let no n*gga write for you, cause you don't wanna lose none of the credit. Wayne wants to be the best to ever do it. To be the greatest ever takes your skillful thoughts, not another person's." (Ozone Magazine)
Lil Wayne is scheduled to begin his one-year jail sentence Tuesday, March 2nd.
