Cash Money Records co-founder Baby has voiced his feelings about R. Kelly and said working with the R&B veteran in the past was a financial loss.
In addition to Kells, Baby also spoke on looking for a country act to sign.
"Country is where the other money at," Baby said in an interview. "I just ain't found me a Country act yet, but as soon as I do, it's on. We've already had some Country records; my son rapped with Kid Rock and sh*t and it blew up, so I'm just waiting to find the right Country act to sign so my son can do a song with him and blow him up...Probably the worst investment I did was f*ckin' with R. Kelly. That was a waste of my time. I could've made money if I wasn't f*ckin' with that clown-a** n*gga." (Ozone Magazine)
Around 2003, Baby was expected to drop a Best of Both Worlds 2 album with R. Kelly.
Bryan "Baby" Williams is collaborating with R&B star R. Kelly to produce Best of Both Worlds 2, which the rapper said will feature an all star line up. "It's still early in the recording process," Baby says. "It's gonna come out on Cash Money and his label, Rockland. So far it's just his folks and our folks." The album will be Kelly's second attempt to record a collaboration with a rapper. His first attempt was with Jay-Z, but the album was marred by allegations that he had sex with an underage girl and taped it. (All Hip Hop)
Birdman recently spoke on the fire power behind Cash Money and Young Money.
"Drake is in the studio," Baby said in an interview with DJ Semtex. "We got a tour starting, a Cash Money/Young Money tour starting December 17th and that's with everybody. Kevin Rudolf, Jay Sean, myself, the whole Young Money camp, just the whole squad and Nicki has a new album coming out at the top of the year and Drake's new singles and new album coming out the first quarter. I'm excited about that. And we got Bow Wow coming out, Kevin Rudolf and everything that we doing right now." (DJ Semtex TV)
Young Money President Mack Maine also discussed his company's strength last year.
"As far as Cash Money, direction is everywhere," Maine said about the company. "Cash Money, Young Money it's [the same.] No feelings on [Wayne's bid.] We've been prepared. We've been prepared for whatever -- I could go back to the Cash Money question and the Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolf, Drake, Nicki Minaj, the top players in the genre, how could you ask for more? You got the NBA, you got your top players. All-Stars. Football All-Stars. We got legends that's gonna be in the Hall of Fame of music. If it's talent, we don't care where you from. It's not like we were looking for [Jay Sean], somebody turned Slim, Baby on, heard some of his music, saw some of his concerts, called him and was like, 'Why you not in the states yet?' because nobody knew him over there. It's like, we helped him and he helped us 'cause now we branching out way over there and getting some of his crowd." (Vlad TV)
