Konvict Muzik labelhead Akon has announced plans to return to retail stores this spring with a new album called Stadium.

According to Kon, the project will likely feature a cameo with pop star Lady Gaga.

Last time we caught up with hip-hop star Akon,he was in Miami recording songs for his new album, Stadium. He calls the record, which is slated for an April or May release, "high energy.'' "It's going to be big,'' he says. "I'm on a whole other level right now. My life is bright, and you'll hear it on the album." Expect cameos from his protege and Konvict Muzik artist Lady Gaga and David Guetta (who co-produced three of the tracks). (Miami Herald)

His last album, Freedom, reached gold status a year ago.

Meanwhile, Akon's Freedom moved up six spots to No. 30 pushing 18,900 in seven days. With three months under his belt, his third album has passed the gold mark with 508,700 scanned discs. (SOHH Sales Wrap)

The upcoming project will mark Akon's fourth solo release.

Konvicted, his second album was released in November 2006. Soon enough, two of the album's singles, "I Wanna Love You" and "Smack That," made their way to the upper regions of the Billboard charts. The surprisingly Euro-pop-flavored Freedom, his third album, followed two years later, and it repeated Konvicted's chart success by peaking within the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. (All Music)

The hitmaker is currently attached to Lil Jon's upcoming Crunk Rock album.

While known for his unique, high-velocity production style, Lil Jon says the album will bear the fruits of his collaborations with the producers behind some of the most indelible, Billboard chart-topping hits of recent years, including DJ David Guetta, Dr. Luke and RedOne. In addition, Crunk Rock's guest-star parade will include The Game, Ice Cube, 3Oh!3, Elephant Man, Pastor Troy, Ying Yang Twinz, Pitbull, Soulja Boy, R.Kelly, Akon and Florida punk rock group Whole Wheat Bread.
