Roc Nation's Wale has clarified recent reports of him having a beef with his former Interscope Records labelmate Charles Hamilton and said he just likes to poke fun at the rap newcomer.

Despite taunting Hamilton at a recent live concert, Wale said Hamilton should not have been surprised at his words.

"Man, I just like to mess with Charles," Wale explained in an interview. "That's the end of the story. He could have at least said something about me a time ago and it's like one of those things where it's like, 'Okay, you started this so I'm just gonna [keep going]', but at the end of the day, I don't have a problem with him, I just like, you know, it just is what it is. I don't have a problem with him, you started it so I'ma just let you know, that was p*ssed off. Whether it was behind closed doors or not, you said it, I heard it, it is what it is." (25 Mag)

At the concert, Wale teased Hamilton for recently being dropped by Interscope Records last year.

"You faking, I don't got no security," Wale rapped in front of a crowd. "Don't push me -- peace out to Charles Hamilton, rookie. Get off my label, n*gga!" (YouTube)

Last year, Wale also spoke at a concert and hinted at a dispute brewing with Hamilton.

"Charles Hamilton, That's not my n*gga. Any real n*gga don't run behind your back and say some bullsh*t. Especially if he knows you gonna check him and not on a record. It's ok, we're all young rappers growing up." (Jolo Louie Blog)

Hamilton later responded through a blog posting.

"I'm not his n1gga. And? He didn't diss me... besides, I think this is the show he was telling me about... or was it the show where in a freestyle he said "F*ck Charles Hamilton"? I don't know/care. if its an issue, I'm sure as vocal as Wale is, we'll hear about it. I mean, other rappers did entire interviews thoroughly explaining their issue with me. Then again, they got ignored, too. D*mn. When I go fishing for a shark, I end up with tadpoles at the end of my fishing rod. Shucks... oh well... Until the next time I speak to Wale, this gets filed under "TheShruggingShoulders"..." (Charles Hamiton's Blog)
