Blackstreet's Teddy Riley has broken his silence on the publicized dispute with daughters Taja and Deja Riley.
Speaking through a statement, Riley explained how he was the victim.
"I felt the need to restrain my children as a disciplinarian parent.," he said. "I would never hit my daughters out of anger; my only intention was to restrain them from hitting me, with as little force as possible. To my dismay, they came at me and started hitting me. I tried to hold them back, to calm them down, but Taja hit me in the face. Then Deja came in and started screaming and punching me in the head, so I directed her toward the bed, away from me, and out of harm's way. At some point, Taja fell against the wall, scraping her face, which is how the bruises on the side of her face were obtained. I did not deliberately push her into a wall, nor did I punch her." (VIBE)
Last week, he wrote a statement addressing the incident.
"Due to recent events, I am compelled to respond in detail to accusations made against me, by my daughters," Riley wrote in a statement. "I love my Daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in my home. Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my children. Perhaps, I should have been a stronger disciplinarian as they were growing up. I worked very hard so that my children would want for nothing. In hindsight, I see that it was a mistake to give them everything they wanted so that they could have the childhood I never had." (TMZ)
Details on the fight made headlines in late December.
The order request, filed and granted in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses the singer of "stomping, punching and bashing" his daughters on December 23 and then lifting a Rock Band guitar and threatening to kill them with it. (Examiner)
