News: Lupe Fiasco "Resurrects" Haiti Relief Funds, "We Won't Leave You Stranded" [Audio]

Grammy-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco has done his part to help raise money and awareness about last week's massive earthquake in Haiti by releasing a tribute track called "Resurrection".

On the track, Lupe is also assisted by singer Kenna.

"Urgency, emergencies among us," Lupe raps, "Life is in a crisis/Tragedies upon us/And we won't leave you stranded, rapidly we cometh/Take you out the darkness, show you where the sun is/Rise from the ruble are the voices this is sung with, and those that have stopped singing we can still hear you under it/Right up out your worrying, right into the wondrous, right up out the ground, right to where the thunder is/And that's where your sisters and your mothers and your brothers is, aunties and your friends and your fathers and your husbands is/Watching with the rest of the world in astonishment..." Posted on his blog, Lupe has linked with Music for Relief to help generate funds for Haiti.

Lupe has partnered with Music for Relief by donating/recording a brand new track "Resurrection" with Kenna to support the Haitian Earthquake response effort. Artists include: ALANIS MORISSETTE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, ENRIQUE IGLESIAS, HOOBASTANK, KENNA, LINKIN PARK, LUPE FIASCO, PETER GABRIEL AND SLASH. Days following the earthquake, rapper Twista also released a Haiti tribute track called "911."

"Man, I don't know what's going on y'all," Twista starts off saying. "We just gotta all hold hands and pray...Woke up this morning to the news and heard the fears and the cries/The sight of Haitian faces brought nothing but tears to my eyes/People suffer from a tragedy of the same demeanor as a natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina/Where is God when I need him, I can't believe the was like I was right there to see how death felt, I couldn't imagine the pain that Wyclef felt...I got up some old clothes like Nike and Pelle donate to 'em and make some contributions...and I'm glad to see Obama react the way he did, immediate reaction because we have to save the kids/Pride and honor because we both are from Chicago..." Haiti relief events have also hit big cities like Los Angeles and New York.

Nike and Dirty Debs have teamed for a Haiti Relief Event Wednesday (January 20) for a sneaker and canned goods drive. The event features music by DJ Clark Kent, DJ Parler, DJ Jay Sensei and DJ Neil Armstrong. Donations Required For Entry, No Exceptions .
