Rappers Lil Scrappy and Hurricane Chris recently shared their insight on what 2010 would have to offer and why the next 365 days would bring them success.
For Scrappy, he saw this year as being a key time for financial gain.
"Scrappy is gonna be a very rich and loved man," Scrap promised SOHH. "I don't know how, I'm grustlin'. [laughs] That's all I can say, I'm grustlin'. That's how it's gonna happen, I'm grustlin', can't stop. And I'm gonna be the number one grustler, still." (SOHH)
Chris felt 2010 would mark his branching out from the corporate record label structure.
"Man, 2010, I'm predicting 51/50 and Hurricane Chris is gonna be running the rap game," Chris assured SOHH. "That's what we're working on right now. Me and my team coming like a pack of wild hogs, ohhh, ohhh, drooling all over. No stand up on no record labels, we coming straight out the gates, we going hard. Right now we're in one of the craziest situations with our record label but you know Hurricane Chris got that money so you'll always continue to see him..." (SOHH)
New York rapper AZ also told SOHH about what he saw happening in 2010.
"Hey listen, I know I'm putting an album out next year so hopefully for 2010, the whole New York vibe will get back where it's supposed to be," AZ told SOHH. "You know, and like I said, the bar [will] get raised for hip-hop." (SOHH)
Rap legend Rakim believed a massive change would take place.
"Wow, I'm looking for a drastic change in hip-hop," Rakim told SOHH. "I'm hoping this is the time where I think the awareness of hip-hop and the awareness in the street will take off. We had a lot of fun with rap these last few years, rap's been growing, we've been going through that period, you gotta give it room to do that. The South embraced it and next it's gonna do something else, who knows what. I think it's been going through so many changes, it's gonna be a big change [this] year. I hope it's for the good." (SOHH)
