Rick Ross has shared his displeasure in seeing his latest album Deeper Than Rap miss out on earning a Grammy Awards nomination for next month's annual ceremony through a new remix to Beyonce's "Video Phone" song.
On the track, the "Boss" says the nomination board are "haters" for overlooking his number one debuting album.
Ross responded on Thursday (December 10) via an unofficial remix of Beyonce's "Video Phone." Over the track, he begins: "My paint wet, I ride slow/ The girls sweat, while my AC cold/ Stand-up guy, but my top fold." A few bars later, he gets into his Grammy omission. "What I think bout the Grammys? I think they all haters," he declares. "What they all think bout the album?/ They think it's amazing/ What I think about the album?/ I think I'm the greatest." (MTV)
Writing via Twitter earlier this month, The-Dream also expressed his displeasure in being snubbed.
"GRAMMY Isnt it FUNNY THE BEST ALBUM OF 2009 DIDNT GET ANOMINATION for the second year strait," he wrote Thursday (December 3) morning. "LOVE VS MONEY GOT NO NOMINATION the last time this happen i had LoveHate out and in the category had written the singles on three of the... Albums ,This time once again ive written on two of the albums ,jamie and B and no Nomination on a whole album of of the shit that got....those albums considered in the first place. I AM BOTHERED KNOWING THAT THIS IS THE PATTERN OF a DYING industry not because of what was.....but what wasnt when i know clearly MY ALBUM BLONG there period." (The-Dream's Twitter)
Fabolous recently spoke on snagging his first-ever, to his recollection, Grammy nod.
"I think, I'm not a 100 percent sure," Fab said about his Grammy nomination. "If I did get nominated before, I didn't win. This might be my first, I'm not sure. I was waking up this morning leaving Atlanta [when I found out]. I got the news and people were congratulating me before I knew. I was like, 'Oh wow, okay.' Somebody had hit me yesterday like, 'Yo, you didn't get nominated for a Grammy,' like they were pissed off. And I was like, 'Yo it's okay. It's motivation for me to work harder next year.' And then I woke up and I did have a nomination so it's really how it worked out. Somebody on the Grammy board liked the song and even seen the video, we shot a video for it, kinda like a viral thing, the Internet is so big now you can shoot a video...I thought it'd be for 'Throw It In The Bag' or the joint with Keri Hilson, but I'll take it how it comes you know. A nomination is a nomination and I'm always appreciative for everything I get, whether I win or not..." (Jenny Boom Boom TV)
Nominated for "Best Rap Album of the Year" for The Renaissance, Q-Tip vowed to keep making great music.
"THANK U ALL FOR THE CONGRATULATORY GESTURES!!!," Tip wrote Thursday (December 3) via Twitter. "thank you all for the salute for the grammy nod! its all good yall with the grammies but i just wanna keep this music crazy 4 yall.. thats my focus." (Q-Tip's Twitter)
Winners in all categories of the 52nd annual event will be announced at a televised awards ceremony on Jan 31.
