Southern rapper Pitbull has reportedly been slapped with a $80,000 lawsuit for not showing up to a pre-paid California performance earlier this year.
According to reports, the concert was set-up to take place last May.
Pitbull is being sued by the El Potrero Night Club in Cudahy, CA, which claims it paid the rapper $28,000 for a concert back on May 14. In the lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, the owners of the club say Pitbull showed up on the day of the gig and complained about the sound equipment ... then officially bailed on them four hours before he was supposed to go on. The owners of the club say Pitbull made off with their $28,000 -- and claim a total loss of $80,000 from the last-minute cancellation. (TMZ)
The rapper is currently slated to return to California for a mid-December concert.
Rapper Pitbull is set to perform at the Fox Theater in Salinas on Dec. 18 for a show rescheduled from Sept. 27. A Lighter Shade of Brown is also on the bill. Any tickets purchased for the Sept. 27 show will be honored, and those holding them will also get a "meet and greet" with Pitbull beginning at 7 p.m. New ticket purchasers are not eligible for the meet-and-greet. The Miami-based rapper recently beat a 2007 DUI charge and avoided jail time last July.
Jurors in Miami-Dade have found rapper Pitbull not guilty of driving under the influence in a case that stemmed from a 2007 arrest. The Latin artist was acquitted late Thursday after jurors deliberated for about three hours. (Sun-Sentinel)
His lawyers reportedly claimed the inaccuracy behind arresting officer's tactics led to false charges.
The 28 year-old was charged in December 2007 with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. Police administered field sobriety tests, which they say he failed. His lawyers argued in court that the tests were inconclusive because they were given on a ramp, not a smooth surface. (Miami Herald)
No further details have been released as of now.
