Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has been confirmed to begin his upcoming one-year prison sentence in early February 2010.
The Young Money leader is set to report on February 9th.
Lil Wayne's gonna have to reschedule his Valentine's Day plans -- because a judge just set the rapper up with a romantic stint behind bars. Weezy was finally given a start date to serve his one year jail sentence after pleading guilty to weapons charges -- and his first day will be February 9th ...one week after his new album drops. The news comes shortly after his appearance in court today.
Reports indicate that Lil Wayne remained silent during his most recent court appearance. When the rapper returns to a Manhattan state court in February, he will likely receive a one year sentence, as per his plea deal arrangement. (Associated Press)
Wayne is being placed behind bars for an arrest on gun charges two years ago.
The sentence stems from a July 2007 incident in which police boarded Wayne's tour bus following the rapper's first headlining show in New York and alleged that they found a gun on the vehicle. The charge carries a one-year sentence, of which Wayne is expected to serve at least eight months. (MTV)
Young Money's Nicki Minaj previously said the rapper would report to prison in February.
"[Lil Wayne] is going to be up there in February. I'll [visit him] as often as I can. I mean, he's gonna be in New York and I'm from New York, so, I would love to just come up there as often as I can. But he's gonna be, there's gonna be so many people there so you know, I'm sure it'll go by in like, days, to him. It'll probably be a very weird experience but I think at the end he'll come out stronger, like, he always does. Nothing ever fazes him really." (Jenny Boom Boom TV)
