A representative for rapper DMX has come forward and addressed the recent claims of the former Def Jam artist allegedly backing out of a publicized celebrity boxing match next month.

According to X's manager, Nakia Waker, original plans called for the fight to be staged.

After he agreed to a 3-round fight, DMX had a few demands. X's manager submitted an addendum to the rapper's original contract for the fight, stipulating: "Event Promoter and Management agree that [DMX] is scheduled to win Boxing Challenge." Walker also added a line which read, "All parties agree this event has been scheduled to occur only in fun and that the artist involved is not a professional boxer." The fight promoters, Thunder Promotions, refused to sign the addendum -- claiming they never agreed to fix anything. Now, DMX is threatening to back out and the promoters are looking for someone to replace the rapper while they also prepare a lawsuit for breach of contract. DMX's rep tells us the rapper really does want to fight -- rigged or not -- but she's forcing his hand because "he's a hip hop artist, not a boxer." (TMZ)

Unnamed sources initially shared mixed reasons to why X allegedly decided to not participate in the fight.

One source said DMX pulled out of the fight because his safety could not be guaranteed, while another claimed that the rapper backed out because Thunder Promotions refused his request to "fix" the fight. Sources stated that Thunder Promotions may pursue legal action against DMX. In the meantime another, a variety of popular rappers have been contacted to stand up to Eric Martinez during the fight and that a replacement for DMX could be announced as early as next week. X previously spoke on his anticipation to fight at the event during a radio interview last month.

"We got a phone call asking if I wanted to participate in it," X said about how the opportunity presented itself. "I'm just gonna walk in as it is man, you know what I mean? It wouldn't be fair if I trained. I think it's three two-minute rounds...[My opponent] is shorter than me and I think he weighs a little more than me. I'm 175, six feet. I got a little build on me, you know what I'm saying? I've seen him, yeah I've seen him. He's a nice guy -- when I agreed to it, I didn't know it was gonna be him...I'm going to pick one of my own songs [to walk out with.] 'What's My Name.' I'm in the studio everyday banging joints out -- I got the pens and the paper. [New album] hopefully first quarter." (106.7 The Fan)

Reports landed online in September which had X headlined for the fight.

Thunder Promotions recently announced that Alabama Pride: Butterbean vs. Tank Abbott is set to take place on December 12 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama. Headlining the event is a heavyweight match-up between Butterbean and Tank Abbott. Thunder Promotions also announced is a celebrity fight between co-headliners rapper DMX and musician Eric Martinez.
