Country singer Taylor Swift has reminded fans of her upcoming "Saturday Night Live" hosting slot this weekend by poking fun at Kanye West in the show's promotional trailer.
The video re-enacts Swift's unexpected interruption by Yeezy during her acceptance speech at last September's MTV Video Music Awards.
In an "SNL" video promo shoot posted on MTV.com, the 19 year-old star and "SNL" cast member Bill Haderquip about the headline-making shocker when Kanye interrupted Taylor's acceptance speech and declared that he thought Beyonce should've won. "Hey, I'm Taylor Swift, and I'll be the host and musical guest this week on 'SNL,'" the promo begins. Bill then says: "Whoops, Kanye West just called. He thinks Beyonce should host instead." Taylor acts visibly annoyed and whispers, "Wow," before the two laugh together and the sketch concludes. (Entertainment Tonight)
Swift previously revealed her intent to provide a no-holds barred acceptance to the "SNL" writers' ideas.
"I told all the ['SNL'] writers, 'Don't count anything out,'" she said in an interview. "I want to go completely, 100 percent in. I don't want to be halfway involved. Just because I have a lot of things to do as far as being musical guest and host doesn't mean I don't want to live up to my full hosting demands." (MTV)
Her hosting spot was revealed in mid-October 2009.
Taylor Swift is hosting "Saturday Night Live" Nov. 7 -- two months after the rapper brazenly interrupted her at the MTV Video Music Awards, claiming that Beyonce deserved to win best female video. "I've been thinking about skit ideas for a long time," Swift, 19, says of her 'SNL' stint. "There are definitely some hilarious things that have happened to me over the past couple of months that I think will be pretty substantial skits...I've been such a fan for a long time, but I've gone back and re-watched everything over the past couple of months and digital shorts would be so much fun to do, because they've been done so well." According to Beyonce, she understood why Kanye took a controversial stance during Swift's acceptance speech.
"Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'You have this award,'" Beyonce explained. "And when they didn't call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, 'No, no, no!' and then he spoke, and I was like, 'Oh, no, no, no!' ... But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment -- and I didn't have to make an acceptance speech." (Billboard)
