After appearing to have reconciled their differences over the summer, Nas has reportedly requested a judge to block paying over $72,000 a month in spousal support to his estranged wife, Kelis.
While details are still scarce, the filing was reportedly made by his attorney.
Nas may be loaded, but it makes no difference. He's just filed legal papers asking the judge in his divorce case with Kelis to block her from getting spousal support. In the papers, filed by his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, Nas is also asking for joint custody of their two-month-old boy. Kelis is asking for $72,728 a month -- which means they are now exactly $72,728 apart. (TMZ)
Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons broke the news of Nas and Kelis getting back together by displaying an image of the couple on his blog over the summer.
"I'm happy Kelis is out with the baby and Nas," Russell wrote Tuesday (September 15) evening. "It made my heart happy! I know I speak for all GG when I say we wish them only happiness. -Russell Simmons" (Global Grind)
Additional photos of the couple began to circulate around mid-September.
Kelis and her estranged hubby Nas hit up the opening gala at the Hair Rules New York Salon last night -- together: So much for all that shade they were throwing at each other just a month ago. They were looking pretty couply and posing for pics and laughing and carrying on. We reported yesterday that the two hit up a party at Marquee the other night as well. Looks like Mr. and Mrs. Jones just may be back on... (The YBF)
A judge ruled against Nas in July and said he would have to pay over $40,000 to Kelis in spousal and child support expenses.
A day after welcoming a baby boy, the "Milkshake" singer, 29, was awarded nearly $44,000 in monthly support from her ex Nas at a hearing. He initially asked a court to deny Kelis any spousal support and then proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing. But on Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger rejected the offer, stating that new mom Kelis needed more money per month to accommodate her new lifestyle. (Us Magazine)
