Comedian Katt Williams has addressed his recent arrest on burglary charges and said he had no reason to allegedly "steal" due to his substantial wealth.

According to Williams, the media has taken his arrest and begun false rumors.

"I did not steal when I was homeless, if I did not steal when I was starving, then I certainly will not steal $3,500 worth of jewelry, while you are wearing $250,000 worth of jewelry," Williams explained in an interview. "They misunderstood. They thought that I was an average typical negro. I am no such a thing. I don't talk like it. I don't act like it. I don't walk like it and I don't hang with people that do...Now if there is some crime that I committed then I will be locked up but if not you are assaulting someone that shouldn't be assaulted and I think you are picking on the wrong one...They said I was bankrupt. The same day they said I was bankrupt I got a check for Pimpin Pimpin for 1.4 million dollars. I haven't cashed it. I still got it! Then last week Katt Williams Pimpadelic sold 1.6 million dollars. I'm trying to figure out how a n*gga with 3 million dollars is stealing $3,500 worth of jewelry in Coweta County, Georgia, while he rides around in a Bentley. I don't understand it." The actor received multiple criminal charges Monday (November 9) afternoon.

Williams has officially been charged with burglary and criminal trespassing by a magistrate in Coweta County, GA -- his bond was set at $41,150. Williams was arrested this morning, after cops say a man named Daniel Broach claimed the comedian broke into his home on Sunday night and stole $3,555 worth of jewelry and collectable coins. Broach told cops Katt used a crowbar to break into his home, which is around 38 miles southwest of Atlanta. UPDATE: Katt is free to roam -- we're told he just posted bond. (TMZ)

An attorney also spoke on Williams' behalf via a statement.

"The case is still under investigation. We believe this is a -- contract dispute. Katt is actually leasing the property he has been accused of burglarizing as well as trespassing on. We are sure this will be worked out." (Bossip)

The incident reportedly took place Sunday evening just outside of the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Coweta County Sheriff's Office Major James Yarbrough said the Sunday night incident happened at a home in Newnan, about 38 miles southwest of Atlanta. Yarbrough said the unidentified homeowner called police around 9 p.m. to report the comedian "gained entry by breaking into the home, and items were taken from the residence." Yarbrough said jewelry was taken, but did not have further details. (ABC News)
