R&B singer Janet Jackson has confirmed recent reports of her break-up with Jermaine "JD" Dupri after maintaining a nearly seven year relationship.

While she said her romantic relationship with JD is done, Jackson also said she keeps in touch with him.

During a radio interview with Atlanta's "Bert Show," Jackson reveals that she has a very short list of ex-boyfriends with whom she still communicates. "I'm not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that," the singer, 43, said. However, Jackson said that Dupri, 37, is an exception. "Jermaine is one of my best friends," she said. "I love him to death. We're still connected. We're still good friends. We still talk." (New York Daily News)

Recently, the singer addressed the question of whether she would get married a third time in light of her break-up.

Would twice-married Janet wed again? "I don't know if I'll get married again," she told Harper's Bazaar magazine. "I'll put it like this: If God wants me to, then I will. I've had people ask me out. I haven't entertained any offers thus far, but I'm locking myself in my work right now." (OK! Magazine)

The unexpected break-up made headlines shortly after Michael Jackson's memorial over the summer.

On July 7, Michael Jackson's family gathered to celebrate him at his much-watched memorial service. Noticeably absent? Janet Jackson's longtime music-exec boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. (A pal says Dupri skipped the memorial because he "doesn't attend funerals.") And for good reason. "His friends are telling people it's over," a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands now. Echoes another: "They have been moving in different directions for a while." (Us Magazine)

Insiders close to both parties initially pointed out the difficulty of JD having a hand in both Jackson's personal life and music career.

"You shouldn't mix business with pleasure," a friend of the former couple explained in an interview. "Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate." (MSBNC)
