Ludacris has promised his long-awaited Shawnna collaboration album, Battle of the Sexes, is still en route to drop before year's end and revealed Ne-Yo and Monica as being two of the featured guests.
Hinting at a strong line-up of female emcees, Luda also said he would want the project to drop next February if there are scheduling conflicts which prevent a 2009 release.
"Battles of the Sexes album should be coming, if we can't get it out by the end of the year this December, then it's coming out Valentine's Day," Luda revealed in an interview. "Right around Valentine's Day, just for the whole man versus woman relationship issue, all of that stuff is coming. Me and Shawnna are going extremely hard. We got Monica on the album, we got a lot of different females rappers I'm not gonna name all of them. Ne-Yo is on there representing for the dudes, it's a lot of different artists. I'm not gonna let everybody [know]." (Global Grind)
While the initial buzz died down, Luda released a video reminding fans to prepare for the upcoming album last spring.
"It's as simple as this, you got Ludacris, you got Shawnna," Luda said. "It's what the people have been waiting for. Battle of the Sexes album is coming this summer. We droppin' a leak single, it's called 'Everybody Drunk As F*ck,' and then after that 'My Chick Bad.' Get ready for it, it's never been done before. An album with the female and male perspective battling out every single song. Ludacris. Shawnna. Can't nobody get down like we get down." (DTP TV)
Shawnna previously hit the stage in New York City for Luda's Theater of the Mind release last November hyping the crowd up for their project's release.
Luda brought out Shawnna who helped perform "What's Your Fantasy" and "Gettin' Some" before confirming an upcoming 2009 collaboration album with Luda called Battle of the Sexes. "I love you New York ladies," Shawnna told the female audience. "We run this sh*t. Free Remy Ma, ya dig? Believe that, it's official. Me, Battle of the Sexes, so ladies, that means you gotta support me - battle, that means whose better, the women or the men?" (SOHH)
Shawnna has reportedly joined forces with T-Pain's Nappy Boy Entertainment as announced by the singer at a concert earlier this month.
"I decided to do it and I just signed somebody else from Chicago," Pain explained. "But I ain't go nothing else to say. Let's go." Following his statement, Shawnna appeared on the stage as they both performed a quick song together. (Get In Tune Stupid)
