G.O.O.D. Music's Kid Cudi has addressed recent rumors of Kanye West going to rehab or seeking refuge in India in the aftermath of his MTV Video Music Awards 2009 incident.
From Cudi's perspective, Yeezy has always been able to overcome adversity and media hype.
"All that's definitely false. I mean ... rehab for what? Being awesome?" Cudi said in an interview. "We talk every once in a while. Like I said, he's like a brother to me, I worry just as much as the next person, but when I say Kanye is cool, believe me, Kanye is OK. He's a strong dude. I mean, we've seen him grow from College Dropout to now...the things he's dealt with, the things he's been through. He's a strong dude...I didn't get his blessing or anything [to join Lady Gaga's tour], I just agreed because it'd be an honor. From what I heard, Kanye backed out from the tour because he wanted to work on something -- maybe a project -- or just wanted to take some time of." (MTV)
Various sites initially suggested Ye moved to India earlier this month.
Rumor has it Kanye West is off to India to clear his mind. Just last week he canceled his ambitious "Fame Kills" tour with Lady Gaga. Now the troubled rapper has reportedly booked a month at Hindu guru Sri Aurobindo's ashram in Pondicherry, India. (Prefix Mag)
As a result of Yeezy dropping from his tour with Lady Gaga, Cudi has now been selected to hit the road alongside the pop star.
Described by Gaga as "the first-ever 'pop electro opera,'" the tour kicks off November 27th in Montreal, Canada and will hit North American 16 cities before ending with a two-night stand Jan. 20-21 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. "A message to all my little monsters: 'The Fame Monster' will come out four days before the first live show," said Gaga in a statement. "You have exactly 96 hours to learn all of the lyrics so you can sing along. Dress accordingly." Rapper Kid Cudi -- a protege of West who recently released his debut album, "Man on the Moon: The End of Day" -- will open for Gaga on "The Monster Ball" tour. (Billboard)
While Yeezy has yet to address the decision, reports initially claimed both artists' camps were unable to work together.
If Kanye West doesn't regret hijacking Taylor Swift, he will now -- we're told his concert tour with Lady Gaga was scrapped because ticket sales sucked. And "sucked" happens to be a nicer version of the word we were told. And not only that -- our insiders say another factor in the cancellation was West and Gaga's people were at each others throats like their last names were Gosselin. When it came down do it, we're told Gaga decided she'd be better off playing smaller venues ... and far from the headache caused by Kanye's ever present drama. (TMZ)
