Dipset associate Hell Rell has become the latest person to weigh-in on last month's Video Music Awards 2009 stunts and said Lil Mama's on-stage rush may have ended violently if done to him.
While not promoting violence toward women, Rell said his natural reaction to somebody interrupting his performance could result in a fight.
"It was weird, you don't do sh*t like that," Rell said in an interview. "You know how much long Jay-Z and Alicia [Keys] were rehearsing for that? Weeks, probably a month. For her to jump up there and interrupt the performance, it was crazy...I might [have] snuff her because I don't know who it is. I'm paranoid, I think somebody in the crowd trying to rob me. I might snuff her. I might. No disrespect. I wouldn't know who she is. Anybody jumping on stage standing, I might snuff her. That sh*t, come from two different worlds. They [would] be like 'Ruggah is a foul n*gga, the n*gga snuffed Lil Mama.' I like Lil Mama." (Vlad TV)
Jay-Z previously broke his silence on Lil Mama's stage crash in an interview last month.
"And I'm cool with her being excited and all that but you have to understand, people put in work to make that performance happen, that took weeks," Hov told radio personality Angie Martinez. "I was a little angry to be honest, but what I'ma do, fight Lil Mama? [laughs]" (Hot 97)
Despite appearing calm on-stage, early reports claimed Jay addressed his issues with MTV staff regarding Lil Mama's show-stealing move.
How mad was Jay-Z when rapper Lil Mama muscled into his duet with Alicia Keys at the MTV Video Music Awards? Though he tried to stay cool onstage, a backstage source tells us, "He went ballistic. He was screaming at the MTV producers about the lack of security. He apparently thought at first she was just a fan. Beyonce finally calmed him down." (New York Daily News)
While Mama did not initially appear alongside the duo, she did step on the stage towards the end of their performance.
Around the end of Jay-Z's performance of 'Empire State of Mind' with Alicia Keys, rapper and 'America's Best Dance Crew' judge Lil Mama hopped up on stage and for a few seconds was standing on the side dancing. Jay-Z at one point patted her on the leg as a hint to go back to her seat, but Mama didn't get the message. (Pop Eater)
