Dr. Dre has described his time consuming method of crafting his music and suggested that his delays are sometimes due to a need for perfection.

The Doc said he places emphasis on the final sound of his production.

"Yeah, I mean, if I spend a year in the studio working hard late nights and what have you and I put all this time into tweaking [my production] and making sure it sounds right, my main concern is for you to hear it the way it should sound," Dre explained in an interview. "The way I meant for you to hear it. And also, not even just my music, I wanna be able to hear my favorite artists like the way they would like me to hear it." (MTV)

Aside from perfection, Dre recently said a lack of motivation has caused his Detox album to get pushed back to 2010.

"[I'm] only [working] on my album that I've been working on for the last ten years, that's it [laughs]," Dre said about what projects he is working on. "The Detox record. Hopefully I'll get it done by the end of this year and you'll hear it next year. Motivation and other things getting in the way, that's it [has caused the delay.]" (ABC News)

Snoop Dogg recently explained how he was able to secure The Game for a slot on Detox.

"Yeah, actually, we working on the Detox album right now," Snoop revealed in an interview. "Actually, me and Dr. Dre and D.O.C. and Stat Quo, we in there every day trying to go hard, I came and called Game up so he could come and be a part of this particular record that Dre had that was needing his vocals and needed his assistance on. We just trying to bring it all back together again. One thing about me, I've always been known to bring people together to solidify relationship. It's about what we can do, not what we did. So we doing some things to try and bring this movement back, so that's what this picture was about. It was about symbolizing the West Coast movement..." (Big Boy's Neighborhood)

The Game also broke the news about his role on the album via Twitter earlier this month.

"CAN U SAY "DETOX" ??? IN THE STUDIO WIT DRE & SNOOP. WE BOUT 2 MAKE ALOT OF PEOPLE MAD. RIDE WIT US OR GET RAN OVER ! AFTERMATH OR DIE !" (The Game's Twitter)
