50 Cent recently discussed the motivation behind his Ne-Yo collaboration "Baby By Me" which features a sample of his 2007 hit, "I Get Money."
Speaking with radio personality Rickey Smiley, Fif briefly touched on the which will featured on his upcoming Before I Self Destruct single.
"I went to the studio in LA and Polow [da Don] had already sampled his favorite part from 'I Get Money' in to the actual record," Fif explained in an interview. "And what's interesting, in hip-hop, we sample music a lot is traditional, but to sample our own lyrics? You know, it just felt like it was something new and I wrote something that was a little more sexual. There was an option to write love on a record, but that was kinda reserved for LL Cool J." Ne-Yo recently said Fif insisted on using his vocals on their joint record much to his surprise.
"He reached out," Ne-Yo revealed in an interview. "I always say he did the majority of the heavy lifting. [The song] was pretty much done by the time he sent it to me. He said, 'I just need you to put something on it.' He gave it to me, I wrote my part, sent it back and the rest is history. When he first sent me the joint, I was like, 'You don't need me for this,' I thought the beat was hot, what he was talking about was hot. I just tried to add to the hotness." (MTV)
50 spoke about his upcoming project earlier this month and revealed having Dr. Dre on board for a few tracks.
"I didn't do a lot of collaborating," Fif revealed in an interview over the weekend. "I wrote the record and I had so much time to write so many ideas that I wanted to make sure people heard me...I had the time to make it what I wanted. Me and [Eminem] doing the 'Psycho' joint is crazy on the record. I did this joint with R. Kelly, it's actually a bonus because it's track 16 on the joint...R.Kelly was the last one [besides Ne-Yo]. [Me and Dre,] we did four joints on this album. I had more time with Dre on this record than the other one..." (Shade 45)
The album's retail release will reportedly include a limited edition deluxe version.
Be sure to look out for the Limited Editon Deluxe Package as well...Regular and Deluxe Copies of Before I Self Destruct will be available for pre-order on I-Tunes in October with Some Exclusive Bonus Tracks upon its release. Resembling a more Terminator-like version of 50's Curtis album, the new cover once again features solely the rapper's face as half of it appears to be ready to burst as though the rapper were filled with magma. Before I Self Destruct is slated to explode into stores Tuesday, November 17th.
