Today, country singer Taylor Swift appeared on "The View" to discuss her personal reaction to Kanye West's VMA's on-stage rant during her acceptance speech.
While being interviewed, Swift recounted the thought process she had during her speech Sunday (September 13) night.
"I think my overall thought process went something like: 'Wow, I can't believe I won.. This is awesome.. Don't trip and fall'.. I'm gonna get to thank the fans, this is so cool... Oh, Kanye West is here!'," Swift told the ladies on "The View," "'Cool haircut... What are you doing there... And then, Ouch. And then, I guess I'm not gonna be able to thank the fans.'" (Rolling Stone)
After the show, Swift fielded a phone call from West.
Representatives from "The View" said West called Swift after her appearance on today's show, and she accepted his apology. Swift later told ABC News Radio, "Kanye did call me and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology." (ABC News)
Swift had previously said she would be willing to speak with Yeezy despite the publicized incident.
Though Mr. West has apologized publicly to Ms. Swift for saying on Sunday that her award for best female video should have been given to Beyonce, Ms. Swift said that Mr. West has 'not personally reached out,' but that she would accept his phone call or e-mail message 'If he wanted to say hi.' Regarding Mr. West's outburst, Ms. Swift said, 'Im not going to say I wasn't rattled by it,' but she said she 'had to get myself back to the place where I could perform' for a live music segment that immediately followed her acceptance speech. Yeezy appeared on the premiere of "The Jay Leno Show" last night to publicly apologize to Swift.
""It's been extremely difficult...Just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist or from anyone, because I only wanted to help people. My entire life, I've only wanted to give and do something that I felt was right. And I immediately knew in the situation that it was wrong, and it wasn't a spectacle -- it's actually someone's emotions, you know, that I stepped on. And it was very -- it was rude, period. And, you know, I'd like to be able to apologize to her in person...I deal with hurt. And, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off. I've never taken the time off to really -- just music after music and tour after tour. I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt. My dream of what awards shows are supposed to be -- and I don't try to justify it because I was just in the wrong. That's period. But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I'm going to make it through the rest of this life, how I'm going to improve. Because I am a celebrity, and that's something I have to deal with. And if there's anything I could do to help Taylor in the future or help anyone, I'd like -- you know, I want to live this thing. It's hard sometimes..." ("The Jay Leno Show")
Prior to the appearance, Ye wrote an apology via his daily blog.
