With the recent release of Big Pun: The Legacy, director Vlad Yudin hit up SOHH and explained how he was able to get a hold of Snoop Dogg, Prodigy, Juelz Santana and more for the film.

According to Yudin, there was a special emphasis on offering fans a fully-rounded perspective of the late emcee from artists across the nation.

"It was all original," he promised. "Every interview that was in the film, it was done specifically for the film that's why it took so long to create the film. Everything was original, everything was done for the film, all those interviews were done for Big Pun. The reason why [the appearances] are so diverse is because we wanted to keep it like that. We wanted to show his legacy, we wanted to show he influenced a lot of people. As far as difficulties, it was time consuming. Everybody that's in the film genuinely wanted to be in the film and genuinely wanted to share a story or some king of aspiration with us or comments on how great he was and what Big Pun did for their career. It was time consuming getting all the interviews in line and filming in different locations. They all definitely wanted to be a part of it." (SOHH)

Aside from a strong New York presence, the film features a variety of regional emcees speaking on Pun.

Appearances in Big Pun: The Legacy include actress Rosie Perez, Method Man, DMX, Steve Rifkind, Snoop Dogg, DMX, Ghostface Killah, Redman, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Papoose, Chuck D, Cypress Hill, Styles P, Mobb Deep, Xzibit, Cuban Link, Jae Millz and more. (Big Pun: The Legacy)

The documentary was overseen by Pun's widow, Liza Rios.

Big Pun: The Legacy is by Vlad Yudin and will be released through CZA/Vivendi/Universal accompanied by the Big Pun CD. The disc, which is called The Legacy: The Best of Big Pun will be released under Loud/Columbia/Sony. Both projects will drop on Tuesday, September 15th, 2009. Liza Rios is a film consultant for the movie and proceeds from this project goes to her and Pun's three children. (Press Release)

Footage from the film landed online over the summer and showed the late rapper's wife and many associates, including Mobb Deep's Prodigy, discussing Pun's life.

"That n*gga ordered everything on the f*cking menu," Prodigy says in the clip. "I think he ordered like all the entrees and all the appetizers. That n*gga ate everything he had and he started hitting everybody else plate. He was like 'P, you gonng finish that shrimp? Eh yo son, you gonna finish that?' like this n*gga was going at it, son."
