News: Ludacris, Eminem, Ja Rule, Fabolous & More To Invade "Hip Hop Honors 2009"

Ludacris, Eminem, Ja Rule, Fabolous and more have been announced to appear at next month's 2009 Hip Hop Honors ceremony which will pay homage to Def Jam Records' 25th anniversary.
The event will also feature a wide variety of entertainers.
The sixth annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors show will commemorate the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records, as talents from across all artistic genres come together to celebrate this significant milestone in American hip-hop music. Eminem, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Ludacris, DMX, Mary J. Blige, Redman, The Roots, Method Man, ONYX, Public Enemy, Warren G, Kid Rock, Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon, Brett Ratner, Trey Songz, Ja Rule, Gym Class Heroes and Scarface are scheduled to show up and show out to celebrate the label that served a catalyst for this American musical phenomenon. Hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan, this year's ceremony will focus on the contributions made by company founded by hip-hop moguls Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons.
Def Jam has launched the careers of some of the biggest names in music history and has inspired other emerging labels and artists. Special homage will be paid to the architects of the label, Rick Rubin, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles, Lyor Cohen, Julie Greenwald, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Antonio "L.A." Reid (Chairman Island Def Jam Music Group). Presenters and performers honor the history and the legacy of Def Jam Records through never-seen-before interviews, archival footage and special musical performances of some of Def Jam?s greatest hits. It promises to be a night that will showcase how Def Jam came and remains to be one of the premier record labels of hip-hop music. (Press Release)
Last year's show honored five hip-hop acts.
VH1's fifth annual Hip Hop Honors aired last night (October 6) paying homage to the contributions of icons Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Slick Rick and Too Short. Due to the recent passing of Isaac Hayes, the legendary singer was honored by performances from Mos Def, Scarface, Cee-lo, The Roots and Estelle. Known for their superstar on-stage appearances, this year's performers included OutKast's Big Boi, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Biz Markie, MC Lyte, Kid Rock, Wyclef Jean, Lil' Jon, Q-Tip, Ghostface Killah, UGK's Bun B and more. Def Jam has continued to maintain its relevance in hip-hop with top rap acts and the upcoming re-release of Jay-Z's Blueprint and Blueprint 2 albums.
Now that Jay-Z has left Def Jam, Hov's former label is looking to cash in on Jay one last time. Def Jam will release The Blueprint Collector's Edition consisting of Jigga's first two classic albums, The Blueprint and The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse. Much like Mariah's collector's set, Jay-Z's edition will be packaged in a collectible slipcase with a poster. There will be space to insert a third CD. The Blueprint Collector's Edition releases September 8, three days before The Blueprint 3 arrives on Friday, September 11 through Atlantic Records. (Rap-Up)
