News: Lil Wayne's Show Must Go On Without Him, Rep Cites "Illness" For Rapper's Drop-Out

A Lil Wayne representative has released a statement to SOHH regarding the rapper's cancellation of this week's Canada tour dates which claim medical reasons kept Wayne from the stage.
According to Wayne's camp, the tour will continue this Thursday (August 20) in Denver, Colorado.
"Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival tour stops in Western Canada. The tour, headlined by Lil Wayne featuring Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Pleasure P and Jeremih, was scheduled to come through Vancouver and Edmonton on August 17th and 18th. Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest. Young Money Presents America's Most Wanted Music Festival will continue their tour routing as planned and extends an apology to the fans for the cancellation." (Statement)
News of the Vancouver cancellation landed online yesterday (August 17) evening.
Tonight's Lil Wayne concert at GM Place has been canceled. "The Lil Wayne show has been canceled due to circumstances beyond Live Nation's control," the promoter said in a news release. The rapper last performed in Vancouver in January. Lil Wayne, who dominated rap music at the 2009 Grammys winning four awards, was to share the bill with Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Drake. Fans will reportedly be refunded for tickets purchased prior to the cancellation.
The only other information available at this time is that ticket refunds will be available at the point of purchase. Tickets purchased through a credit card will be refunded automatically, according to Live Nation's release. According information posted on a Live Nation Twitter account, the crew's Edmonton show scheduled for August 18 has also been canceled. Lil Wayne last performed in Vancouver in January 2009. Lil Wayne has postponed his forthcoming European shows, expected to kick off in Paris on Thursday (July 2), due to illness. The rap star was set to play seven dates in Europe over the next 10 days, including the Roskilde Festival in Denmark and two dates in London. (BBC News)
