Soulja Boy recently spoke on his forthcoming Drake collaboration record and how the rap newcomer's on-stage injury has postponed their song for the time being.
In addition to Drizzy, Soulja Boy also hinted at other artists he has been working with as of late.
"N*ggas just been hitting me left and right like 'Soulja I need you on a track,'" he said in an interview. "I just did a song with Lil Kim, the remix for 'Download.' Me, her, T-Pain and The-Dream. Me and Snoop Dogg doing a joint we got together...Me and R. Kelly got a song...I got a song I'm working on, me and Drake was supposed to go out in the studio man. But he fell, he fell on-stage last night, so, hopefully we still gonna get it in. You know what I'm saying? He cool, but I don't know man. He took a pretty bad fall." (This Is 50)
The rapper broke the news about working with Drake in an interview last week.
"Drake is a real dude," Soulja Boy said in an interview. "Most rappers, they don't like to give the other rappers props. They be hating on the next man and he showed me my respect. Drake is a good artist. I just got through chopping it up with him before [Lil] Wayne went on stage. We got a song coming too. We've been in the studio. I got the studio bus actually on the road, the whole tour. So I'm recording my third album, The DeAndre Way, it drops November. I'm recording my album while we're on tour. So y'all can look out for the Soulja Boy [and] Drake collaboration." (97 BHT)
Lil Wayne's protege gave Soulja Boy props for his marketing skills earlier this year.
"Soulja Boy is the smartest artist of our generation, I think period and I think out of anybody," he said in an interview earlier this year. "Whoever it is, whether it's him or his team or the people around him, whoever has the thoughts to do the things he does, is genius and I'm so happy for him." (YouTube)
Drizzy updated fans on his well-being after falling while performing at an "America's Most Wanted" tour venue.
"This bottle of Opus One is low but my spirits are high my friends," Drake wrote. "I am about 2 hours away from Toronto, CA where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL and due to the events that happened the other night lord only knows what other damage I have done. On the bright side I will begin the reflecting and soul searching that its going to take to make this album and my outfit on the night I fell was crack. I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world. Its funny when I read comments from previous fans who have lost interest because of the radio play and exposure I have. I just want to assure anyone reading that nothing has changed on my end. I refuse to get comfortable, I refuse to fall in line and follow anyone elses formulas. I still work as if So Far Gone had never dropped and I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to gain entry to this game." (October's Very Own)
