Incarcerated rapper T.I.'s Paper Trail re-release was reportedly shelved and will not hit stores despite music videos and promotion for the project earlier this year.
Tentatively titled Paper Trail: Case Closed, the shelved release will likely be available for purchase online.
The Paper Trail reissue has been shelved indefinitely. That's according to a spokesperson for T.I.'s label, Atlantic Records, who said "the re-release is definitely not happening," and "we plan on releasing the additional songs digitally." There was no reason given for scrapping the reissue, nor was it clear what will happen to projects like the video T.I. shot for the song "Hell of a Life," which the rapper posted photos of on his blog just days before beginning his prison sentence. "Remember Me" is already available for download through Atlantic's online store. (MTV)
Grand Hustle producer Lil C previously spoke with SOHH about the new tracks which would have made the album.
"He got a lot of hot records," Lil C promised. "He got a whole 'nother album put together. I'm not gonna spill the milk but it's another return of the King. I don't want to bust nobody's bubble but it's definitely gon' be something that you would want to go out and purchase. You don't want to miss no songs on the album." (SOHH)
Tip's Paper Trail remained within the Top 50 albums sold list since its release last September and stayed there throughout spring 2009.
Self-proclaimed "King of the South" T.I.'s Paper Trail dropped 12 slots to No. 24 moving 20,100. After 26 weeks in stores, the rapper's sixth album stands at 1,836,800 copies. (Sales Wrap)
Prior to beginning his 366-day sentence in late May, T.I. spoke with SOHH about his final plans.
"[I] focus on today and let tomorrow handle itself," he said. "That's all I can do. I don't have [to think about it.] I know it's there. It doesn't require any thought. I think about preparing myself financially making sure that everything is in place that I need it to be in order for the lifestyle of my family to continue in the way that it must." (SOHH)
