The Game is reportedly prepping the release of his Chris Brown collaboration song, "Better On The Other Side," which pays homage to Michael Jackson.
While only behind-the-scenes footage has been released online as of now, the video will likely combine footage of Game and Jackson fans paying homage to the singer's legacy.
"With nearly five minutes of footage, both The Game and Chris Brown are seen in various screen shots recording their tribute song in a studio. The West Coast emcee also appears to be getting a Michael Jackson tattoo and is seen in a bath tub with a bottle of liquor and note pad. Other shots include fans, kids and adults alike, wearing shirts with Jackson's face, dancing, smiling and keeping the singer's memory alive." (SOHH)
The music video's director, Taydoe, has weighed in on why he joined forces with Game for the tribute song's visual representation.
"I got the bad news about MJ and I called Game, since I know he was a fan of MJ also," he wrote in a statement. "He said 'I gotta pay my respects. I'm doing a tribute song!' My first thoughts were to edit a tribute video from Taydoe TV. When he came up with this brilliant idea, it was only right to collaborate and direct a video to accompany the song. I sent one camera to the hospital, one camera to the house and one camera to the studio to ensure we cover all avenues on this day. During the editing process, the footage was so monumental in the sense that everyone was together and enjoying each others love for MJ. I enjoyed the process of directing this tribute video and feel honored to be a part of history." (Statement)
Game's song also features Diddy, Mario Winans, Usher and Boyz II Men.
"You're Michael Jackson, I'm Michael Jackson," Game raps. "We all Michael Jackson, I guess what I'm asking, is everybody bow their head for a legend/Don't breathe for a second, now let air out, grab the hand of somebody you care about/So you can hear my message, hear my confession/Everybody tell Usher, I seen a moonwalk/Guess the young Thriller touched him/He touched me, like he touched you." ("Better On The Other Side")
The rapper recently said he had a phone conversation with Jackson in 2005 in which the singer wanted to cease his rap beef with 50 Cent.
"He got to this one thing that makes me laugh, man." Game said in an interview. "He said, 'I don't know how you're gonna feel about this, but I want to ask you something. I don't want you to judge me, but I don't really know everything that's going on between you and 50. But I want to be the middleman behind you putting this situation to bed.'" (MTV)
