Raekwon's highly-anticipated Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 album has been pushed back, which the rapper claims is due to internal problems at the record label.

While keeping details to a minimum, the "Chef" said the project has been set back by nearly a month.

"I had to push the album back to Sept 8th ppl," Raekwon wrote via Twitter this week. "I had to push the album back to Sept 8th ppl, due to sample clearances and leakage of one of my records! OB4CL2 WILL BE OUT SEPT 8TH PERIOD!" (Raekwon's Twitter)

The Wu-Tang Clan rhyme slinger previously said his album would drop next month.

"The only collateral I can give you is my word," he said in an interview. "I'm a man of my word. I know a lot of people is doubting this project is even existing. Y'all helped me eat for years -- I would never play with y'all. That's why I been giving ya'll free music. I look at it like you said, 'Yo, you got me waiting, can I get a f*cking soda? Can I get a juice? Can I get a f*cking sandwich?' And that?s my way of giving back. But I do have to make sure that my I's is dotted and my T's is crossed. August 11 is official. That's the final destination for the album. Get ready." (NY Mag)

Speaking on his departure from Aftermath, Rae justified his move to EMI for the new album earlier this year.

"I think EMI just recognized that I'm a veteran in the game and they recognize the value in [Only Built For Cuban Linx 2] and at the same time, they believe in me," Rae said in an interview. "They believe Rae still got the potential to stand next to these new artists and really do his thing. They recognize that I'm a legend and that I did a lot of sh*t for hip-hop. So at the end of the day they came to the table with a sweet deal that I couldn't deny as well as being real excited about working with me. They was listening to me and hearing me out and respecting that I'm really trying to own my masters right now...They felt like I deserved it though and they made a brother smile." (Hip Hop Game)

He announced his record deal with EMI in March.

"The project is viscous right now," Raekwon said in an interview. "The album is done. I just closed my deal...I just signed with EMI...That's real news, that's real talk. I just signed off yesterday, you know what I mean. Made everything official. EMI is the home right now. They the ones that's paying me. They gave me a nice piece of what I needed...At the end of the day, it's gonna be raw hip-hop." (On-Air Idiots Show)

Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 is scheduled to hit stores Tuesday, September 8th via EMI.
