Nas recently broke his silence on recent rumors that claimed he had an affair during his marriage with Kelis and offered his take on the gossip.
Acknowledging the negative light he's received, Nas explained his outlook on the media's recent coverage of his personal life.
"It's funny that someone would even care about some Nasir Jones sh*t," Nas said in an interview. "I'm still that kid from the block at the end of the day... So when I watch this sh*t, it's surreal. We get a good laugh off it and say, 'Hey, they're talking about me again and it's some funny sh*t'...I heard that I was a cheater...It almost sounds like I was a bad husband. Not to say I was the greatest - I'm not perfect in anything I do -- but I think I deserve a f*cking trophy. If I do say so myself, without sounding too cocky, I gotta say I was a hell of a husband and a hell of a dad...It's unfortunate when business is out there about your personal sh*t, especially when you're really not the guy to be having his sh*t out there...The sad thing is, you've got to get used to it. My skin is so thick that I probably need to write a book for people who are not ready for anything crazy." (Vancouver Straight)
A judge ruled against Nas last week and said he would have to pay over $40,000 to Kelis in spousal and child support expenses.
A day after welcoming a baby boy, the "Milkshake" singer, 29, was awarded nearly $44,000 in monthly support from her ex Nas at a hearing Thursday. He initially asked a court to deny Kelis any spousal support and then proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing. But on Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger rejected the offer, stating that new mom Kelis needed more money per month to accommodate her new lifestyle. (Us Magazine)
The ruling took sparked a reaction from Method Man who backed Nas and the everyday father against the court system.
"Not for nothing, and I'm not knocking, I don't know the ins and outs of their relationship but as far as speaking for men in general, ladies come on, y'all know that's some bullsh*t," Mef added in an interview earlier this week. "Ladies, let's be real and sh*t, for real for real, all you did was f*ck your man. That money right there, a kid don't need that much money to survive and sh*t. You trying to maintain your lifestyle. I wanna see the shoe on the other foot. That sh*t is ridiculous man because then you got a lot of chicks and that's not all of them, but there are some chicks out there striving to get [that]...The court system is geared more towards the women than the men." Joe Budden also expressed his reaction to the court's ruling.
"That's ludicrous," Joey said about Nas' child support payments being over $40,000. "If I had to pay $50,000 a month, I might be a deadbeat. [laugh] How you say some sh*t like that, I'm joking, I'm joking. I definitely don't support or condone dead beats. That's a little nuts. That's a lot...That's kinda crazy, I don't know. But it's none of my business. No comment. Ohhh...No Comment Thug is back." (DDot Omen)
