A judge has reportedly ruled that Nas will have to pay roughly $44,000 a month to estranged wife Kelis in child support.
The ruling was made yesterday afternoon in Kelis' favor.
A day after welcoming a baby boy, the "Milkshake" singer, 29, was awarded nearly $44,000 in monthly support from her ex Nas at a hearing Thursday. He initially asked a court to deny Kelis any spousal support and then proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing. But on Thursday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Louis Meisinger rejected the offer, stating that new mom Kelis needed more money per month to accommodate her new lifestyle. (Us Magazine)
His child support payments will be divided between Kelis and expenses for their newborn, Knight.
Meisinger issued the order at a Thursday hearing. Neither Nas, whose full name is Nasir Jones, nor Kelis, whose full name is Kelis Rogers, attended Thursday's hearing. Rogers will receive $30,471 in spousal support per month; the couple's son will receive $9,027, according to the court records. (Associated Press)
Kelis gave birth to her first child with Nas yesterday morning.
After nearly three days of labor, Kelis gave birth to son Knight Jones last night -- and while Nas was not in the delivery room, he was outside and he did get to see his baby. As we first reported, Nas had tried to visit Kelis in the hospital while she was in labor the night before -- but was turned away because he was too wasted. (TMZ)
Nas broke news of his son's birth and name at a concert a day prior.
"In my hood, Queensbridge Projects," Nas said in a video. "Yo, yo, my son is born today. So shout-out to my son Knight...Eh, my son's name is Knight. That's what I named the young God, Knight. Y'all heard it here first. Don't believe nothing in the media. But I love y'all, don't listen to none of the bullsh*t. I love you, that's why I'm here." (Video Music Box)
