Lil Wayne's highly anticipated Rebirth album has reportedly been pushed back to this fall and will be released when it has reached "perfection."

Rebirth contributor Shanell announced the pushback and weighed in on the overall delay.

"Right now it's September," the Young Money singer, who co-wrote Wayne's "Prom Queen," said in an interview. "But let me tell ya'll, great art takes time and you'll expect it and expect it and expect it again, but when it's perfect, you guys will receive it." (Rap Up)

A new Wayne single called "F*ck You" landed online earlier this month and will reportedly be the project's follow-up to "Prom Queen."

"Now one, I'm hotter than the motherf*cking sun," Weezy raps. "And two, so that orbit is hotter than you/And three, the baddest that you ever did see...She wanna f*ck me in the mosh pit...Now A, atomic and allogic/And B, baby you're beautiful but, but/C, I can't, can't, can't see you, you with me, but, you, say, I'm the one...And I rock out with my c*ck out/She wanna f*ck me in the mosh pit." ("F*ck You")

Wayne previously said the project was ready to hit stores, but reports claim sampling issues contributed to the delay.

The latest delay is reportedly to give Universal Records more time to get permission for the samples used on the album, Lil Wayne's seventh solo effort. Confirmed guest stars on Rebirth include Aubrey "Drake" Graham, Fall Out Boy and Lenny Kravitz. The album, which has already spawned lead single "Prom Queen," is being touted as Lil Wayne's experimental foray into rock music. (And Pop News)

Reports earlier this year hinted at the album possibly being shelved.

Universal big wigs are cautious of the rock album release considering the first single from the project, "Prom Queen", dropped in January but only reached No. 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lil Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant has allegedly been advised against letting the star press ahead with the project. A source says, "If Wayne doesn't brighten up, they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it's never going to be released." (Examiner)

The Rebirth will reportedly hit shelves September 2009.
