Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne recently spoke on the force behind his Young Money roster, including artists Gudda Gudda, Lil Chuckee, T-Streets and others.
Aside from Drake and Nicki Minaj, Weezy explained the background artists on his team.
"Gudda, he's got this aggression about him," Wayne said in an interview. "I wrote his first rap for him, and I never written another rap for him ever since that day I told him he should be a rapper...I know [Chuckee] is gonna make it. It's like in sports when you got that Kobe Bryant. You don't know what to do with him, whether to play him the guard, center, small forward...[Streets] is more like my brother...He's been with me since Gudda. He's like my protector. Anybody wanna play games, T-Streets is right there. So I make sure T-Streets is on everything I do, always around." (MTV)
Weezy's Young Money Entertainment was reportedly launched six years ago.
Young Money Entertainment aka Young Moola is an American hip-hop record label which was founded in 2003 by Lil Wayne. The distributing label is Universal Music Group and the label is an imprint of Cash Money Records. The president of Young Money is Mack Maine who took over from Cortez Bryant in 2009. (Lil Wayne HQ)
Other artists include Mack Maine, Tyga, Shanell and New York's Jae Millz who signed in 2008.
Lil Wayne continues to expand his Young Money Entertainment imprint, this time by signing Harlem rapper Jae Millz. Lil Wayne announced the new signing during a show at a full house in Newark, NJ. Jae Millz later confirmed the deal when talking to Complex Magazine by saying "Yeah, we just drawing up the paperwork, but I've been rocking with [Lil Wayne] since the first week in 2008," continuing with " I've just been keeping stuff low, but Young Money is what it is, and I'm still Wanna Blow. The "Holla At A Playa Remix" is going to be out in two weeks. We're moving, Young Moola Baby!" (Rap Basement)
Wayne recently added Drake to his Young Money team after the rapper announced his partnership last month.
"I actually signed directly to my managers Cortez Bryant and Gee Roberson," Drake explained in an interview. "And we signed a joint venture with Young Money which is Lil Wayne's company. The courting was nice, I had some great dinners in hotels, I got some nice things [during the bidding war.] I think the best part about it is that we've done this thing in the industry where it's been so organic to do it with the people that I'm doing it with. It's kinda like we're doing it by ourselves. It's distributed through Universal." (Alexa Chung)
