Southern rapper Gucci Mane's lawyer has addressed weekend rumors which claimed the rapper had been placed back behind bars after a court appearance.
Speaking via a statement, attorney Dwight Thomas said the rapper was not being held by authorities.
All morning Twitter has been abuzz with claims that Gucci Mane violated his probation and was back in the big house. Asylum, his recording label, has vehemently denied this and now Gucci's lawyer has sent out the following statement. "Gucci Mane is not incarcerated," he wrote. "His attorneys are addressing all pending issues through the courts." -- Attorney, Dwight Thomas. (Rap Radar)
Reports from various blog sites also reported on the rapper's presumed arrest.
Brrr, it's so cold in the A. People were saying it was over failing to pass a urine test [||] or not even showing up for his probation hearing, but it doesn't really matter since we're not a gossip site and we don't go by word of mouth. We'll just rock our Free Gucci Mane t-shirts and wait for a video of him flossing with 16 chains and cheesing his face off. (Nah Right)
Rappers Soulja Boy Tell Em and Nicki Minaj reacted to the rumors via Twitter.
"ppl kill me wit spell checks on twitter. eat a d*ck. #freegucci," Nicki wrote Sunday (July 19). "On some real shit, Chase your dreams. They're sooo fast...just when you think you're about to catch up...they slip away...RT @WakaFlocka1017 false info bout gucci bra aint locked up. @GUCCI1017." (Nicki Minaj's Twitter)
The rapper was previously sentenced to a year in prison last September for violating terms of his probation.
Gucci was sent to prison after only serving 25 hours out of his mandated 600 hours of community service and testing positive for drugs at his last probation meeting. After serving his jail sentence, Gucci will still have two and half years of probation and 600 hours of community service to look forward to. (My Fox Atlanta)
