50 Cent, Eminem and Dr. Dre have reportedly signed rap newcomer Slim da Mobster to their respective record labels and will play a large role on the forthcoming Detox album.
While keeping details scarce, Mobster revealed his involvement in the Doc's long-awaited release.
"I'm not even focused on my album right now," Slim said in an interview. "I'm all about his album. 'Cause the better I do on that, the better it is for the situation with my album." After getting the co-signs from the big homies Dre and Em, 50 Cent was the next to jump onboard behind the young rapper. Now, Slim Da Mobster is the first artist signed to all three artists, representing G-Unit/Shady/Aftermath. (MTV)
Slim previously spoke on joining forces with Dre and his Aftermath label.
"I almost fainted [when I met him]," Slim admitted. "You know how you dream some sh*t and your dream really happens? Well, that's what it was. I always felt like he would f*ck with me. But n*ggas was sayin' I really gangbang. I'm active in the streets. Just pure hatin'. But Dre is a real n*gga. His response was 'No lawsuits Slim, if you really want to do this!'" (Aftermath Music)
A Detox track called "OG's Theme" recently leaked online and featured Ludacris rhyming in Dre's voice.
"With 30 mil sold, where's the f*cking gratitude," Luda raps. "I see all these little BG's/Mean muggin' on the screen trying to be me/I'm much more than 6-4's/Gun talk, weed smoke and sick h*es/That's why most of them have come and went/I just re-coupe, re-create and re-invent/N*gga welcome to the West Coast/We the home of the jackers and the best smoke/And ain't no n*gga better than/Doc Dre, I'm a 20 year veteran..." ("OG's Theme")
Dre previously leaked a Detox snippet via a Dr. Pepper commercial last spring.
"Scientific test prove when you drink Dr. Pepper slow, the 23 flavors taste even better. For me, slow always produces a hit," Dr. Dre says in the commercial, before stepping behind a DJ booth, putting on a pair of his own signature "Beats" headphones and slowing down the sped-up techno song that's playing by placing a can of Dr. Pepper over the record. The new track comes on, the party goes wild and Dre states "Slower is better -- trust me, I'm a doctor." Other spots in the campaign feature Dr. J, "Dr. Frasier Crane" and Gene Simmons (aka "Doctor Love"). (Billboard)
A release date for Detox has not yet been announced.
