In a move that raises questions about the reclusive Fugees singer, Lauryn Hill has canceled all tour dates scheduled for Stockholm Jazz Music festival.
It was reported earlier this year that the reclusive Fugees singer was billed to headline the Stockholm Jazz Festival this summer.
Stockholm Jazz Festival spokeswoman Liisa Tolonen says the artist's agent informed the festival late Tuesday that all performances in Europe by the former Fugees singer have been canceled...Tolonen said Wednesday the agent cited health reasons for the cancellation but declined to give more details.(AP)
Sonny Rollins and Brazilian singer Gilberto Gil are also part of the Stockholm lineup. The festival has previously featured artists including Mary J. Blige, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald and Dizzy Gillespie. Hill also headlined the Stockholm Jazz Festival in 2005. Sweden won't be the only European stop for Lauryn. Hill previously booked a date at Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival for July 11th, and according to the AP, an organizer for the Stockholm fest says Hill will in fact perform 10 shows in Europe this summer.(Rollingstone)Hill's unusual public performances have raised questions about her mental stability
Hill, who has charitably been called "a disappointingly erratic live performer" by Sun-Times music columnist Jim Derogatis, was also the subject of perplexed news reports out of Atlanta this weekend. The Atlanta Journal Constitution said that during this week's Vibe MusicFest concert, Hill, dressed in hippie rather than hip-hop garb, muddled through a four-song set of numbers off her solo debut before launching into some spoken word and then abruptly leaving the stage to stunned silence.(Chicagoist)
