Teen rapper Soulja Boy Tell Em recently announced plans to join forces with Kanye West and go head-to-head for beats.
Soulja Boy said his work with Ye could have the potential to become a hit record.
"I know a million producers that are no-names, but they got hot beats," he said in an interview. "I will be going back in the lab to produce beats on this album, I really haven't produced since my second album, but I'm looking forward to doing a 50/50 split beat with Kanye West. I think that'll be hot because he's a great lyricist, but an awesome producer as well. I feel like I'm an awesome producer too, and both of us in the studio together at the same time can come out with a smash." (Radoi Planet TV)
The Southern rapper recently promised his third album would be an instant platinum-certified release with the help of select rap stars.
"Right now I'm in the studio making The DeAndre Way," Soulja Boy explained in an interview. "And mark my words, this album will be a classic. A lot of people been sleeping on Soulja Boy for a long time, when I first came out with 'Crank Dat' it was so big, gimmicky and catchy it went five times platinum and a lot of people were stuck on it for a long time. They said I was garbage, they said I was a one-hit wonder. Now I came out with 'Kiss Me Through The Phone,' my second No. 1 single and I released 'Turn My Swag On,' my third No. 1 single and now I'm going into my third album. I got everybody's ears open right now...Mark my words, this album will go platinum...I'm reaching out to hip-hop's greatest...I wanna reach out to that top status. Your Jay-Z's, your Kanye's and your Lil Wayne's." (MTV)
He previously discussed the motivation behind his forthcoming record.
"The concept [is] my way of thinking, my logic, my theory on a lot of things," he said in an interview. "It's basically my interpretation on life. I'ma tell life stories. I done seen a lot of things in my life. Just to be how young I am, 18 years old, I made my first million at 16. I'm a natural-born hustler. That's all I do is get money. No matter what situation I'm in, I'ma grind it out, I'ma get to the money, always think positive, always take care of my people, always take care of my family, and I'm gonna make good music. I can give a f*ck about haters. I ain't going nowhere but to the top." (Ace Showbiz)
Soulja Boy has also expressed his aim to capture a larger audience.
"I know all of the kids know who I am and all of the teenagers are like hipped to my music," Soulja Boy explained in a recent interview. "I wanna be bigger than life...I want my music to be spread all over, you know. All ages...I want people to understand my story, like my life story of, like my story is really a one in a million like for me really coming from the ground all the way from the bottom to all the way to the top. Me basically, I'm really just a self-made millionaire because the way I got into the entertainment industry is different than everybody else for me using my Internet marketing abilities, from MySpace, to having over 70 million views on my MySpace page." The DeAndre Way will reportedly arrive in stores next fall via Interscope Records.
