Hot off the press this week Rihanna gets her freak on, Russell Simmon's piece catches an attitude, Lauren London's carrying a Lil' Weezy and Akon gets an overseas chick "Knocked Up."
Rihanna has been quite the "Promiscuous Girl" this month, first hanging out with an old flame in Barbados and more recently, ho-hopping it all over New York City. According to the NY Post:
The "Umbrella" hit maker showed no signs of being hung up on Brown on Sunday night (17May09), when she and six of her friends spent several hours watching exotic dancers at FlashDancers nightclub in New York, taking over a Vip area and spending $2,500 before leaving at 3:30am, eyewitness says.
A source says, "Rihanna didn't get any lap dances herself, but she was tipping the girls a lot. And she was definitely with one of the guys in her group and kissing him all night."
The fun continued on Monday, when Riri "threw her 1's up in the air" for my current favorite Toronto rapper/singer Drake. Rihanna landed in the Post'ss Page Six again this week for publicly lip-locking with the star at the bowling alley:
RIHANNA is officially over Chris Brown. The Barbadian beauty showed up with a group of friends Monday at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge on West 42nd Street, but spent most of the night locking lips with Canadian former child actor-turned-rapper Aubrey "Drake" Graham. "She was drinking whiskey and apple juice and making out with him all night," says a spy. "They were really cute together." Rihanna, who's also been spending time in town with Katy Perry, peeled off with Drake at about midnight.
Rebel Talking... Clearly Rihanna knows a good rebound when she sees one, but a word of advice for Heartbreak Drake, while kissing might seem harmless, but kiss the wrong girl (word to Katy Perry) and you might end up rapping for Valtrex.
Julie Henderson is the latest in a long line of models to hook up with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, but the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model decided to set herself apart from the pack by addressing their relationship in an ill-advised letter published on his GlobalGrind blog:
I have been spending "special time" with Russell for about 4 months and in that time I have learned some subtle things about some in the black community that have surprised me. I must say that while it has been a bit of a challenge for me, it has also been a wonderful learning experience. I realize that in this day of Obama and change that there is still a tremendous amount of poverty, suffering and pain in the black community, and for that I am deeply sorry. But, I have to say the angry responses to those realities are sometimes misdirected. Just for the record, I am nobody's white b*tch, gold digger or fame chaser. Nor am I any of the other mean things I have been called lately. I don't need anything from anybody, I come from a good family and I'm a young independent "successful' model making my way in NYC. (If you don?t believe me google me or go to juliehenderson.net).
Finally, I just wanna say that Russell has been a great "special" friend and I'm sure as sh*t not giving him up cause some in America object to our friendship. I wanna close by saying, what Russell always says, Namaste. (That means the goddess in me recognizes the goddess in you)?.Or, b*tch get your own man. Love, Julie
Rebel Talking ? Oh no she didn't! This chick has clearly been driven delusional by "the fever"! GOOGLE me this -- how many models, black, white or other do you think Russell knocked down on his way to you?
(Baby) Boom Like An 808
Hip-hop and R&B have been fertile ground over the last few months, with ATL star Lauren London now publicly confirming she's pregnant with rapper Lil Wayne's child. A Bossip.com source says:
Lauren and Wayne weren't happy about the pregnancy initially, but they have accepted it and chosen to raise the baby together. Everyone's all smiles now and very excited about the new baby. Lauren says that she's not worried about the pregnancy affecting her career, and doesn't really care about what people think. She's stayed very positive throughout this entire time. Lauren and Lil Wayne have decided not to live together or continue with their five year "on again, off again" relationship at this time.
Meanwhile, word on the streets is that Akon is also set to send out birth announcements soon. Ugandan press have sparked rumors that the international star recently spread his seed on African soil.
Could Alliaune Thiam, better known by his stage name Akon, the Senegalese-American International R&B music sensation, be the father of Susan Owori's unborn child Owori is the young sister of celebrated Kampala fashion designer Sylvie Owori.
Well, we are told, that's exactly what Owori, is telling friends. According to the rumourmill, this happened on the singer's last trip to Uganda. He was seen with Owori at Serena.
Akon and Owori have publicly been known to be close friends for a while now, hanging out in clubs from Dar to London. A few years back we reported on this very page that Owori and one of (UK-based Ugandan music duo) Da Twinz singers, who were lovers, split after Owori flew to Atlanta, USA, at the invitation and expense of Akon.
Rebel Talking... Forget about licking the rapper, can somebody introduce these guys to condom wrappers? Clearly Salt & Pepa need to remix "Talk About Sex" again because all this raw-dogging and unwed babymothers are not a good look for hip-hop.
R&B singer Raphael Shawan Brown of the trio Next known for hits "Butta Love" and "Too Close" has apparently been taking his lyrics too literally. Brown's ex-girlfriend Nikki Giavasis went to court May 11 and got a restraining order against Brown. According to TMZ:
Giavasis says last week, Brown tried entering the gate of her community in the San Fernando Valley, where he was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She says she broke up with Brown a year ago, but he's repeatedly harassed her, including allegedly breaking into her house. She tells us Brown has stolen her $700 shoes and a $1,000 handbag. Giavasis tells us she invested in his group to the tune of $300,000. She says he wrote her a check to pay her back in that amount the memo line said "From God." But God didn't have enough money in his account and the check bounced.
Rebel Talking? Damn, first Soul IV Real resort to fraud and identity theft, now the guy from Next is a stalker. What's next? The ladies from Brownstone locked up for solicitation?
But while Swizz Beatz was professing his love for Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri was busy getting tatted up with Janet Jackson's image and we were wondering how long before magazines will start giving Chrisette Michele the cover love they show Beyonce and Ciara.
