Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell released a statement speaking on the high-anticipated event.
"At Lollapalooza, we're selling more tickets than ever," Farrell said. "People need an even bigger excuse to escape more than ever and there is no better escape than going to a festival and just tripping and taking in music." (Statement)
Tickets for the event are currently being offerred through the festival's website.
Unlike most recession-minded music festivals this summer, Lollapalooza is not offering any payment plans for ticket buyers. However, a number of advance three-day passes are available on the Lollapalooza site now for $190. When that sells out, the regular passes will be priced at $205. (Rolling Stone)
Last year's festival reportedly sold out.
All three days of last year's Lollapalooza sold out for the first time since the festival was reborn as a weekend-long, stand-alone event in Chicago. Producer C3 Presents is in the middle of a 10-year agreement with the Chicago Park District to produce the event in the city's prime downtown park space. (Associated Press)
Lollapalooza 2009 kicks-off Friday, August 7-9 at Chicago's Grant Park.
