A man was fatally shot following an E-40 concert Thursday (April 2) night in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The incident took place shortly after 40's concert ended.

Terry Gaines Jr., 22, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. Colorado Springs police officers were helping with crowd control at Mr. Biggs, 5825 Mark Dabling Blvd. in northwest Colorado Springs, as people poured into the parking lot after a show by E-40, a Bay Area rapper. Shortly after midnight police reported hearing gun shots, according to a news release. They found the victim shot and sitting in a silver sedan. Some officers tried to resuscitate the man until emergency crews arrived. Others began stopping vehicles on Mark Dabling. (Gazette)

The rapper has been performing at nationwide concerts throughout March and April.

Upcoming shows: April 2: Mr Biggs Event Center, Colorado Springs, CO 7 p.m., April 4: The Aggie Theater, Fort Collins, CO 9 p.m., April 9: Belo Night Club, San Diego, California. (E-40's MySpace)

A shoot-out also took place late last year following an E-40 concert in Denver, Colorado.

A shoot-out occurred at downtown Denver's Club Vinyl around 2 a.m. as fans were exiting the venue on December 26. Police report that a group of unspecified individuals opened fire on the victims which led to them being rushed to Denver Health Medical Center. "There was a guy down here who was bleeding like crazy," local security guard Kendall Davis said. "They need to do something about that club with innocent people being shot." (Denver Post)

Despite violence surrounding the hip-hop venue, the rapper released a statement shortly afterwards denouncing any involvement in the shooting.

"Neither E-40 nor anyone traveling with him was in the venue at the time -- E-40 had concluded his performance and been back in the hotel room," 40's management wrote in a statement. "He encountered nothing but love and gave nothing but love back. E-40 had a crowd pleasing and peaceful show.... While he certainly regrets that this incident took place, E-40 and camp are unable to control the poor and tragic choices that other adults choose to make." (SOHH)
