Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne recently discussed his "boredom" with hip-hop and the inspiration behind his shift into more rock-based music.
Speaking in a Rolling Stone Magazine interview, Weezy discusses his rock star lifestyle.
""The rock sh*t just comes from what my life is now," Wayne said. "I've grown into this person." Describing a wild night when he woke up in bed with three or four women he couldn't name, Wayne reveals he had an epiphany. "I just got, I'm not going to say 'so good' at what I was doing, but it became such a regularity for me that I got tired of it. And then I said, 'You know what? I'm not going to rap on this one...I don't want to be the best rapper in the world. Not now," he says. "I want to be the best. Period. Now. My favorite rapper hasn't done what I'm doing." Cash Money Records co-founder Baby recently rejected the rock album claims that Wayne has made concerning his upcoming Rebirth project.
"It's not a rock record," Baby said in an interview. "That's what I think people are getting misunderstood. When you speaking about a rock record, you think he's got a guitar and everything, but it's not that. It's going to be some of those types of beats, but it's just great music. I don't think no artist can do what he about to get done. My son is a rock star...He can rap, he can sing, he's just an artist." (Vibe)
The album is slated to arrive in retail stores this summer.
After being pushed back from April 7 to May 19, Lil Wayne's new album Rebirth, which will feature rock materials, is once again delayed. The album has been pushed back to June 9, LilWayneHQ.com has exclusively confirmed. It was previously scheduled to go head-to-head with Eminem's Relapse and Busta Rhymes' Back On My B.S. on May 19, but now it will go head-to-head with Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D (The Energy Never Dies).
