Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne has been chosen to appear on ABC's popular television show "The View" next week.
While it has not yet been confirmed whether he will be interviewed, the rapper is scheduled to perform.
The ladies of "The View" will get a special visit from Lil Wayne next week. The Cash Money rapper is scheduled to join co-hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd on ABC's popular talk show on Friday, April 24. He will perform for the first time on the daytime program, which is taped in New York City. (Lil Wayne HQ)
The show has welcomed rappers in the past including T.I. who appeared last October addressing his felony weapons case.
"I can't excuse it," he said on the show. "When you're in my line of work, more people want to kill you than congratulate you. I have a family to protect. It sways your judgment." With sunglasses perched atop his head, the rapper legally named Clifford Harris Jr. said he's learned a few things since the arrest. "You've got to walk with God instead of walking with the guys. It took me a while to learn that." (Access Atlanta)
Weezy has been seen on major network television lately giving in-depth interviews including Katie Couric's pre-Grammy Awards special where opened up about his career.
"In New Orleans, reality is handed to you very very early," Wayne explained. "[Music], for me, was a way of always showing somebody my intelligence...I work very very hard, Ms. Katie. We don't approach things like we're good, we just approach it like we're gonna work and we're gonna work hard and hard works pays off. If you work that hard, then you're gonna get good and good turns to great and hopefully I'm the definition of that...I will stand up for marijuana any day...I have migraines, right, I have migraines that just make me want to kill myself...I do what I want, and I love to smoke." "The View" is known for catering to a pre-dominantly female-based audience.
Recipient of the 2003 Daytime Emmy® Award for "Outstanding Talk Show," "The View" is ABC Daytime's morning chatfest, featuring a team of dynamic women of different ages, experiences, and backgrounds discussing the most exciting events of the day. The program has received critical acclaim since premiering August 11, 1997. It's broadcast live weekdays from NYC (11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST). (ABC)
